Simplicity: Connecting back to the Heart of it All
This week I felt myself grow in new ways. Stepping into deeper devotion with my own writing practice - write and release, express and share - has shown me shadows to be aware of and truths to embrace more fully.
For the past couple of years, I’ve released writing out into the world when it organically flowed through me, when I would be in the middle of a walk or meditation and I’d start to hear the words collecting, and soon enough they would need a place to go. It was deeply authentic, with no agenda other than expressing the truth of my soul.
Over time I could feel an inner nudge to embrace myself as a writer and show up to the page more often, and simultaneously I felt apprehensive - would that mean it’s performative? Would it become forced or watered down? Would I run out of things to say if I committed myself to a weekly practice? What if it only worked once a season? (In those energetically loud turnover points between pronounced peaks and valleys of the year).
And of course, there’s possibility to some of this, but largely, it’s fear-based.
